History Makers Leadership Saturday School is a division of History Makers Business Consulting (HMBC) and was established in 2009. Our first school was based in Dobsonville (Soweto) at Mezodo Technical Centre with a handful of learners. The school has since grown to over 500 learners in two premises the second school being based at Altmont Technical school, Protea south (Soweto).
History Makers Leadership Saturday School is a professionally run educational intervention that engages with over 500 township based learners. Our suite of programs is designed to enhance weekday classroom instruction by offering a stimulating supplemental learning environment. History Makers offers hope and opportunity for the young people from a township community whose socio-economic reality has been shaped by the legacy of apartheid.
The school started with learners from Grade 8 to 12, offering the following programs leadership classes, Maths, Physical science and Accounting. We are now offering lessons for grade 4 to 12, which covers Leadership classes, Remediation classes, English, Maths, Maths Literacy, Physical Science, Life Science, Accounting, Business Studies and Geography.
The school has experienced support from the community of Soweto thus an increasing number of learners, who are passing with distinctions, with our top performer passing his Matric with five (5) distinctions in 2011.
